Cleft Palate Repair

                                

These diagrams illustrate the surgical repair of the Cleft Palate.

The procedure is usually performed at 6 months of age, but could be performed as late as 12 months of age.   The surgical procedure takes about one hour to perform under general anesthesia, and the patient is require to stay over night in the hospital.  Dr. Howard performs all of his pediatric surgery cases at the Children's Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham.
