The following is the ordering information for the special feeding bottles and nipples:

Mead Johnson Cleft Lip/Palate Nursers

Ross Orthodontic Nipples

Item # 54100

The Mead Johnson Cleft Palate Bottles come with a nipple on them.  However, we have yet to find a patient whom is able to use them.  We suggest that you change the nipple to an orthodontic shaped nipple, such as the ones made by Ross.  Otherwise, you can try the Nuk orthodontic nipples sold at your local store.

Pacifiers are OKAY!!!!!!  We hear all the time that mothers have been told that they cannot use a pacifier.  Why?  We don't know why you can't.  This is "old school" advice, and very outdated.  We suggest that you use an orthodontic shaped pacifier.  Just experiment with different sizes until you find one that the baby will take.  Almost all of our patients take a pacifier.  The only time your baby cannot take a pacifier is after the cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries. Dr. Howard recommends that the baby refrain from anything touching the face after surgery for about 2 weeks.
